If ever there was a place to throw a party, it’s lively, free-spirited Brazil. Add in a world class sporting event such as the World Cup Soccer and you have a celebration that becomes legendary! Heroes will emerge starting in the first match of the 2014 World Cup, when hosting nation Brazil battles against Croatia in São Paulo, Brazil on June 12.

How Do The World Cup Soccer Games Work?

The way the World Cup Soccer games work is that the host nation gets an automatic bid to the games and then 31 teams have to qualify through many intense rounds of tournaments. Those winning teams are then divided into 8 different groups, with 4 teams in each group.

All teams must play each other within their assigned group and the top 2 teams from the group move on to the Round of 16. Luckily, the USA will battle Ghana and then Portugal before taking on the odds favorite Germany! If Team USA is in the top 2, they will play one of the top two teams from Group H.

The winning 8 teams play in the Quarter Finals and those winning 4 teams play in the Semi-Finals. The 2 losing teams play for 3 place and the 2 winning teams play for the coveted World Cup Soccer trophy!
