"Dear Miss Weller, I started a tradition back in 1973 to get an ornament for Christmas for my two children. I wanted the date on it and I chose ornaments that were significant to each child. When my children grew up and had families of their own, Grandma started to extend the tradition to my grand children. My two children own 39 ornaments. My grand children range from 29 to 15. I told my grandchildren that there might be a time when Grandma cannot do Christmas gifts. My six grandchildren unanimously told me that “don’t send presents, just please keep sending the ornaments". "Dianne, You asked for information about how I found your site and I thought I would let you know. I was just telling a friend about your site and how I found it. I have 8 grandchildren and have purchased ornaments for each of them since each child was born. There are many reasons that I chose to do this. The first Christmas that I celebrated after my marriage...had a tree....but no ornaments. Having a limited budget we made all the ornaments for the tree. It would have been nice to have some ornaments that I remembered from my childhood to adorn the tree. Each year we purchased ornaments for our daughters and added them to our trees along with those that they made in school When each of my daughters married, they chose their ornaments from our collection for their first trees. At least it was a start. When our grandchildren began to arrive so did the tradition of gifting an ornament. I chose ornaments that were significant in their lives the past year. I marked each ornament with their name and the year with a waterproof pen in a hidden place. As the children grew, it became more difficult to find ornaments that spoke of their past years interests. About three years ago, I was looking for a saxophone and lucky for me, found your site. You have yet to let me down...I thank you for that. Last year, my 13 year old grandson was thrilled to get his ornament with his name and the year all ready written upon it in such a great way.
