OBJECTS IN STOCKING GUESSING GAME:
Young and old alike enjoy this game, and can be created using common Christmas items you can find in your household.

1. Take a soft Christmas stocking and fill it with holiday items. Guests will need to feel the items from the outside of the stocking, so make sure it is one that is “squishy” such as a knit or felt.
2. Use items such as candy cane, glass ball ornament, pine cone, candle, jingle bell, mitten, scotch tape, ribbon, small square of wrapping paper, holly, etc.
3. Count the number of objects you have.
4. Tie the stocking closed on the top to prevent peeking!
5. During the party, pass the stocking around the room and give everyone a piece of paper.
6. Tell your guests how many objects are in the stocking and have them write down all of their guesses.
7. Have them pass their paper to the person on their left.
8. Pull out the objects one by one.
9. After you are finished, have guests call out funny answers that people made.
10. The guest with the most correct is the winner!
Tips:
1. You can use large thermal socks if you don’t have a knit or felt Christmas stocking to use.
2. Do a test first. Put the objects in the stocking and make sure after feeling, that you can mostly guess the objects are.
3. Have a couple small prizes handy for the winner!

HOLIDAY BINGO:
An easy game for all ages to play, and most everyone knows the rules so there isn’t a lot of necessary explanation required.

1. Print the BINGO CARD onto paper.
2. Either write in Christmas words or have guests fill in their own. Click on BINGO WORDS for some grouped ideas to get you started.
3. Cut small strips of paper and write individual words on each strip.
4. Fold the strips and toss them in a Santa hat.
5. One person is the caller and randomly pulls strips out of the hat.
6. Each player marks the words called and the first to announce a bingo is the winner!
Tips:
1. Have guests mark “called” squares with holiday candies such as red and green M&Ms.
2. Give out small prizes for winners.
3. Change it up and don’t just do straight lines for bingos. Have people use an H shape, L, picture frame, whole card, etc. as a way to keep the interest of your guests.

MATCHING LYRICS:
This is a wonderful game for a gift exchange party in which the gifts could be for any guest, such as a grab bag. It gets everyone involved.

1. Count the number of guests that will be attending.
2. Cut strips of paper. One for each guest.
3. Choose popular Christmas carols that everyone knows and take one line from one of these and write it on one strip of paper. On the next strip of paper write the name of the carol. For instance: One piece of paper has “With a corncob pipe and a button nose” and on another piece of paper has “Frosty the Snowman”.
4. Throw all pieces of paper into a Santa hat.
5. As each guest arrives, they pull out a piece of paper from the hat and tape it on their gift.
6. When it comes time for the gift exchange, each guest holds the gift that they brought.
7. Going around in a circle, those with the lyrics on their package call out their lyric. Everyone guesses the song that it belongs to, and whoever has the song title on their package does the exchange with the lyric, until all are finished.
Tips:
1. If you are playing with adults, choose more obscure lyrics to encourage discussion and make it more difficult.
2. Choose easy songs for children.
3. If you have an odd number of people, use two lyrics from the same song and have the three people exchange gifts.
4. It is always a good idea to have a few extra songs and lyrics just in case of unexpected guests. Keep those on the side and do not put them in the hat unless needed. Otherwise there will be a lyric without a match!
5. For some lyric and song ideas, click our link to CHRISTMAS CAROLS.

RIGHT/LEFT GIFT EXCHANGE:
This is another fun gift exchange idea. It works perfectly for an ornament gift exchange when everyone brings a wrapped ornament to a party, but can be for other generic gifts as well.

1. Have your guests each bring a wrapped Christmas ornament or wrapped gift.
2. When it is time to exchange, have everyone stand in a large circle, one person next to another.
3. Each person should be holding the package they brought.
4. Read the RIGHT-LEFT poem out loud. Every time the word “RIGHT” is said in the story, pass the package you are holding to the right, and every time the word “LEFT” is said in the story, pass the package you are holding to the left.
5. At the end of the story, the package you are holding is yours to open!
6. Print the RIGHT-LEFT Christmas poem.
Tips:
1. If you are doing this with a group of children, you may want to use a shorter version to maintain their interest level.
2. Everyone should stand close enough together so passing right and left can be done quickly as the poem is read.

PICTIONARY OF CAROLS:
This game is done in teams which is a good ice breaker for company holiday parties!

1. Get an oversized tablet of paper and an easel. Don’t forget a thick marker!
2. Write the names of CHRISTMAS CAROLS on individual strips of paper and put them in a Santa hat.
3. Divide your guests into teams. You may use as many teams as you want, but remember you don’t want those not guessing to be bored, so limit your number of teams. Two to four teams seems to work the best.
4. One person starts by picking a paper out of the hat. This person does not show this paper to anyone but begins drawing what he/she believes depicts the carol in question while the rest of his/her team members begin guessing.
5. Someone on another team is the time keeper.
6. The person has one minute to draw. If his team does not guess it in the designated time. All the other teams get one guess. If another team gets it, they get the points.
7. Points are allotted for correct guesses. You designate the point structure.
Tips:
1. Make sure the easel is set up so that all guests can see what is being drawn from wherever they are seated.
2. A possible point structure might be 5 points if your teammates guess in the one minute time frame, and 1 point if another team guesses it after the time limit is up.

NAME THAT CHRISTMAS CAROL:
This is a wonderful adult party game that will cause your guests to put on their thinking caps.

1. Print our NAME THAT CHRISTMAS CAROL QUIZ out, making a copy for each of your guests.
2. Print our ANSWERS to have on hand.
3. Give each guest the quiz and set a time limit to answer.
4. Have the guests switch papers with each other and call out the answers.
5. The one with the most correct is the winner!
Tips:
1. Another way to do this game, rather than doing it as a quiz, is to put each one on a piece of paper. Then, post the pages around the room (or multiple rooms), spreading them out. This will invite discussion and mingling as guests gather at the pages.
2. If you opt for this method, print one copy of our CHRISTMAS CAROL PAGES here and print a copy of our CHRISTMAS CAROL ANSWER SHEET for each guest.

PIN THE NOSE ON RUDOLPH:
This is a rendition of “pin the tail on the donkey” and is a fun game for children.

1. Print our RUDOLPH NOSES page with 24 numbered red noses. You will need one for each child in attendance.
2. Print our picture of RUDOLPH. It will print in four pages, which you will need to tape together. Tack it to the wall.
3. Blindfold each child on their turn.
4. Turn that child around three times and give them their nose to “paste” on Rudolph.
5. The child who gets their nose the closest to Rudolph’s is the winner!
Tips:
1. Put a piece of double sided tape on the back of each nose before handing it to the child to make it easy to stick.
2. Have an adult monitor the process so a child doesn’t run into the wall and harm himself/herself.
3. Make sure Rudolph is posted at the proper height for the majority of children in attendance.

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING PAPER FUN:
GRAB BAG EXCHANGE GAMES are a fun way to give a gift for families or large groups and everyone can then participate.

1. Wrap the purchased grab bag gift or ornament for an ORNAMENT EXCHANGE GAME in paper that reflects something about who you are. If doing an unwrapped ornament exchange, buy an ornament that is like you. See our sports, hobbies or occupations categories for ideas. Do not write your name on the gift.
2. When guests arrive at the party, have them place their gift in an area to display.
3. Write a number on each of the gifts.
4. Then give your guests a piece of paper and have them guess who brought each gift based on how it is wrapped.
Tips:
1. For example, nurses might paste bandaids all over their gift.
2. Accountants might put pennies on their gift.
3. Scrapbookers might place cropped pictures around their package.
4. Businessmen might wrap their package in ties.
5. It is easy to be creative with newspapers, magazines and other common household items.
6. If this seems too daunting a task for guests, have everyone wrap their gifts and give prizes for Most Creative, Craziest, Prettiest, Most Festive, Funniest, etc.

CREATE A CHRISTMAS TREE:
Looking for FREE CHRISTMAS PARTY GAMES that are for large groups and are easy to make? Many of the fun CHRISTMAS GAMES require knowledge or skill, but we have one that doesn’t. You can create a Christmas tree with a piece of paper and no other supplies but your two hands! It is harder than it looks!

1. Purchase green paper, a sheet for everyone attending your holiday party.
2. Have the guests each fold their paper in half.
3. Now, with their hands behind their back, they need to tear a Christmas tree, using the fold as the center of the tree. No peeking!
4. Put a number on the front of each tree, and record the name of the person who did each one.
5. Either put them on a table as a display or tape them on the wall, and let everyone vote for the best one.
Tips:
1. Do not use a heavy cardstock as it will be difficult to tear. A lightweight typing paper is probably best. If you can’t find green, white paper will do.
2. This is like the concept of cutting a snowflake. You will tear a half of a tree and using the fold, the other half will be the mirror image.
3. Paper can be folded either vertically or horizontally. It doesn’t matter because you will either have a taller tree or a wider tree.
4. Give out a small prize for the winner.
5. It is OK to laugh! See some of our attempts below.
