Officially known as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the Bahamas consist of 3,000 islands, cays and islets with a capital in Nassau. When you visit the paradise island, it is interesting to note that this country is the only one that officially has the word "The" attached to it. What matters when you visit this sunny tropical paradise is the pristine blue of the water and the bright colors of the sailboats off the shore, a country well known for its sailing. You will feel like you have traveled to another world when you sink your toes into the sand. For those who want taste of tradition, join a Junkanoo celebration which is an African street parade with music, dance, art and elaborate costumes. The back of the personalized Bahamas suitcase ornament depicts a lighthouse, of which there are many on different islands, the most notably lighthouse landmark being at Hope Town on the Abacos Islands.
