Love Christmas movies? Love romance? Turns out they go together like chocolate and cherries! Here’s a list of some of the best romantic Christmas movies for Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is all about love, companionship, and delicious chocolate-covered morsels (I myself am especially fond of chocolate-covered strawberries).

Of course, we all celebrate Valentine’s Day in our own way, whether it’s with someone special or alone. Some people go out to dinner. Others exchange gifts. And then, of course, there’s always the romantic movie!

But with so many wonderful, romantic films to choose from, where do you begin?

In the spirit of the Christmas Blog (and because Christmas is always on my mind), I’ve gone ahead and hand-picked some of my favorite romantic Christmas movies – movies that are just perfect for Valentine’s Day.

So treat yourself to a night off, uncork a bottle of wine, and enjoy any of these lovely films, regardless of whether you’re spending the evening with a loved one or by yourself.

The Family Stone (2005)

In The Family Stone, Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) brings his uptight girlfriend, Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker), home with him for Christmas to meet his family. Everett plans to propose to his girlfriend – and to present a family heirloom as the engagement ring – but his family’s reception of Meredith is less-than-ideal for a proposal.

With an impressive cast including Claire Danes, Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, and Craig T. Nelson, The Family Stone is a romantic comedy that’s certainly worthy of your Valentine’s Day watch list.

Love Actually (2003)

Love Actually is actually a series of stories, telling ten individual tales about love, taking place in the weeks leading up to Christmas. I always found the way the stories interconnect as you move further into the film incredibly interesting!

This is a British comedy featuring an all-star cast of well-known celebrities like Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, and Rowan Atkinson. Definitely worth seeing!

While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Taking place in Chicago on Christmas Day, While You Were Sleeping is the story of Lucy (Sandra Bullock), a fare token collector who has an unspoken crush on a commuter, Peter (Peter Gallagher). Peter winds up in a coma after Lucy saves him from an oncoming train, and she mistakenly convinces a nurse that she’s his fiancée. To make matters worse, she’s unable to confess when she gets caught up in the frenzy of the situation after Peter’s family arrives!

While the story sounds complicated on paper, While You Were Sleeping is a very enjoyable watch that’s truly romantic and effortlessly entertaining.

The Holiday (2006)

Starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black, The Holiday is a delightful romantic comedy about two women from different sides of the world who swap homes for a short time to get away for the holiday season.

During the exchange, however, each woman meets a local man who turns out to be a perfect match for her! But how do they tell their newfound love that they have to return to their home countries after the holidays? It’s a very fun (and funny) movie which I liked quite a bit.
