Candy Ornaments Are A Sweet Treat For National Candy Day

Ever since the Persians discovered sugar cane in India somewhere during the 6 to 4 centuries BC, sugared candy has been a treat that was reserved for special ceremonies and occasions.

Using minimal supplies and four easy steps, you can make this adorable sweet treat. They are so fun to make that your children will want to join in the festivities! Make Your Own Candy Ornament For National Candy Day

Cupcake sprinkles make a colorful splash on National Candy Day, so gather all of your sweet tooth friends and make these quick and easy candy ornaments that will leave you craving a sugared treat!

Supplies:

  • Clear glass ball ornament
  • Polyurethane varnish (bought at a craft store)
  • Funnel or piece of paper to use as a funnel
  • Cupcake or candy sprinkles
  • Decorative ribbon
  • Paint markers (optional)

Step 1: Remove the cap from a clear glass ball ornament and pour some varnish inside.

Step 2: Swirl around to entirely coat the inside of the glass ball. Turn upside down and pour out remaining varnish. Wait 10-15 minutes to make sure that varnish is tacky, not wet or your sprinkles will get too soggy!

Step 3: Using a funnel or piece of paper as a funnel, pour in enough of the sprinkles to completely coat the inside of the glass ball. Let dry.

Step 4: Replace the cap on the clear glass ball ornament and tie a colorful ribbon to the top. Use paint markers to personalize for a birthday or a special note to a candy lover!

That’s it! Super easy! This candy ornament is a fun craft for the kids to do on National Candy Day, but just make sure they don’t try and eat the sprinkles from the ornament! If you use miniature clear glass ornaments to do this project with, you can string them together on a ribbon to make a garland banner that makes a perfect birthday party decoration. Or, make a few candy ornaments and decorate a birthday themed tree to use as a centerpiece for birthday parties!
